Warwick
is the
historic county town of Warwickshire and was
founded on the banks of the River Avon in the year 914
AD. Warwick Castle is the crowning glory of the town and was
originally founded in 1068, although it has been rebuilt and updated a
number of times since then. Today it is described "Britain’s
greatest mediaeval experience" and combines castle ruins, largely of
the 14th century, with one of the finest great houses in England. One
of the most intriguing buildings in Warwick is The Lord Leycester
hospital located over the West Gate. The Chantry Chapel of St James was
built in the 14th century by 12th Earl of Warwick.
The Guildhall was built in 1450 by another Earl of Warwick.
Robert Dudley, Earl of Leycester, acquired the buildings in 1571,
founding the hospital for aged or injured soldiers. The stone vase in
the Master's Garden is 2000 years old. The building has been used in a
number of television productions, including Pride and Prejudice, Tom
Jones, and Moll Flanders.

A 16th century (grade II
listed) building located about 4 minutes walk to Town Centre and Castle
entrance. Originally an ale house, it then became an inn and was then a
pub until finally becoming a guest house. This is a small
friendly guest house with large beamed rooms with en suite
bathrooms. The smaller double en suite was built at a later
date, and is a quiet room overlooking the
